Unfortunately, no one likes dirt and grime, and when it comes to children and pets there is not way of getting around it, dirt is always going to be there. No matter how hard you might try, dirt will always find its way into your home. However, there are a few small things that you can do in order to minimize how much gets in to begin with.
You’ll want to start by putting mats out by all exterior doors. This can reduce a good portion of soil from the bottom of shoes from being deposited on your carpet. Here are a couple tips to remember when using walk-off mats in your home. First, place a runner or 6-10 ft long walk off mat at the interior and exterior of all entry doors. You will want to make sure that you clean your place matts so that they do not end up spilling dirt onto your capet, rendering it useless. Your mats can be cleaned by vacuuming or taking them outside to be shaken out. Hevily soiled mats should be cleaned very often, but this cleaning should not exceed one week.
On top of the placement of the entrance mats, you may also find it useful to have people remove their shoes before entering your home. Your capet will stay much clener by doing this because the excess dirt that would accumulate on your mats would not be there. This is important during rainy times, so mud isn’t being tracked inside directly on the carpet. Make a specific spot for shoes to be kept near the door that everyone can use when coming indoors. If you have children hat go outside, put a place mat by the door.
When you have pets that track in dirt, you can minimize the amount of dirt that gets inside by keeping them bathed well.
Take a few steps to minimize the soil load in your home by following a few of these simple tips. Regular vacuuming will take care of most of the dry soil that gets tracked inside. Even though you might work extra hard at preventing dirt from coming into your home, there will always be some dirt that finds its way back in.
Your carpet stays a lot cleaner when you can initially keep the dirt out of your home. Taking amazing care of your carpet will cause to last longer than the rest.
